Quick Lime

Molecular Formula: CaO

Quicklime or Calcium Oxide, a widely used chemical compound, is a colourless, white crystalline or white amorphous substance which is also called Lime, Burnt Lime or Caustic Lime. However, due to its mixed content of impurities like iron, magnesia, silica, it has to be processed for industrial usage.
It is prepared by heating Calcium Carbonate or Limestone in a special limekiln to about 1050°C, decomposing it into Calcium Oxide and Carbon Dioxide.

CaCO3+ Heat →CaO + CO 2
